MORE ARSENAL HISTORY.
Under the guidence of Herbert Chapman, the Gunners took a first ever trophy in 1930 by beating Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup final. The following season Arsenal were champions for the first time.
1933 1934 1935 the club won League titles. Herbert Chapman sadly dies while arsenal are on a great run of victories. George Allison takes over the reins winning an FA Cup in 1936 and another title in 1938.
After the break during world war 2, Tom Whittaker became manager, Arsenal were yet again champions in 1947/48 and 1952/53 - they were FA Cup winners in 1950 - runners up in 1952.
In 1968 and 1969 Arsenal were on the losing side in two League Cup finals.
Success in the European Trophy happened for the first time in 1969/70 with Bertie Mee as the manager of the club.
It was the following season with Terry Neill as manager, Arsenal were in their prime when they won the league and the FA Cup double. The club had three more visits, consecutively, to Wembley for a try in the FA Cup finals, winning the second of them against Manchester United 3 - 2
1980 the club reached the Cup Winners cup final but losing out to Valencia on penalties.
1986/87 George Graham as manager took Arsenal to their first ever League Cup Triumph beating Liverpool 2 - 1. Two years later Arsenal were League champions and another title in 1990/91.
In 1992/93 Arsenal were the first club to win the domestic cups in the same season, both occassions the losers being Sheffield Wednesday. The following season Arsenal won the European Cup Winners cup with a 1 - 0 win over Parma.
It was not until Arsène Wenger became manager that Arsenal saw some more silverware in the trophy cabinet. It was 1997/98 season the club, for the second time in the clubs history, became the league and FA Cup double winners.
